Project 39PHE/2024 expands its international network
Politehnica University of Timișoara (UPT) announces the expansion of the international collaboration network of the 39PHE/2024 project, following the participation of a delegation of researchers at the 26th edition of the International Multidisciplinary Scientific Conference GeoConference SGEM 2026.
The event took place from 4 to 13 July 2026 in Albena, Bulgaria. This activity is carried out within the framework of the project code 39/PHE, funded by the Executive Unit for Financing Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation (UEFISCDI) with the amount of 202,750 lei.
The SGEM 2026 conference brought together researchers, academic staff and professional organizations from a large number of countries, providing a conducive framework for the exchange of knowledge and the development of new global partnerships. The UPT delegation used this platform to promote the central objectives of the LAND4CLIMATE initiative, focusing on:
- Adaptation to climate change
- Sustainable land use
- Efficient management of water resources
- Increasing territorial resilience
- Implementing nature-based solutions
The discussions held during the working sessions highlighted the essential role that land management and green-blue infrastructure have in mitigating climate risks and in developing more resilient local communities. The central component of UPT's presence at SGEM 2026 was networking activity. Direct meetings with specialists and representatives of prestigious international institutions contributed to increasing the visibility of the 39PHE and LAND4CLIMATE projects and to expanding its network of contacts beyond the current European consortium. The dialogue initiated in Albena opens new concrete opportunities for:
- Elaboration of joint scientific publications
- Development of new research project proposals
- Organization of thematic workshops and exchanges of expertise
- Interdisciplinary cooperation between experts in engineering, environmental sciences, spatial planning, digital technologies and social sciences
Through the efforts of the Politehnica University Timișoara delegation, the 39PHE/2024 and LAND4CLIMATE projects strengthen their position in the international scientific community. The contacts established during the conference will be capitalized on in the following period through specific follow-up actions, with the aim of transforming the preliminary discussions into sustainable partnerships.
